Insider Tip
Marigold Kitchen is now serving Sunday dinner. Enjoy a three-course meal for $35 and choose an appetizer, entrée and dessert from their seasonal menu.
Nestled on a quiet, tree-lined block of Victorian houses in the Spruce Hill section of University City, Marigold Kitchen is one of the city’s most elegant and exciting dining destinations.
Featuring a seasonal menu of daring new American cuisine, Marigold has quickly become one of Philadelphia’s most respected BYOB restaurants in the two+ years since reopening its latest reincarnation.
Marigold has been serving the residents of University City for some 70 years, as it has operated under different management in the same location, a 1907 Victorian house, since the first customers were served in 1934.
In 2005, Marigold was named “Best New BYOB” by Philadelphia Magazine and spot-lighted by Gourmet Magazine as Philadelphia's "Buzz" restaurant. In 2006, Philadelphia Magazine again doled out the praise, calling Marigold’s new chef, Michael Solomonov, the region’s “Best New Chef.”
Menu highlights include Sweetbreads with Crispy Chicken Skin and Tehina, Braised Beef Shortrib with Curried Potatoes and a list of delectible desserts including Halvah Semifreddo with Chocolate-Sesame Crisp and Cherries.
